Yoga is an ongoing adventure for me. I was introduced to yoga by my dear yogini friend and teacher Shannon Garvey in 2002, and yoga has never left me since. In 2008, I finally realized that my eternal desire to make a difference in this world could be fulfilled by becoming a yoga teacher. I studied with Tami Schneider, a student of Baron Baptiste, to become a teacher in the style of power vinyasa yoga. I also worked with Gregor Singleton, Tiffany Fraser, Ashley Turner and Kathryn Budig and continue working with Laura Chapman.
I love teaching power yoga. Power yoga is a mental and physical challenge and can teach us how perceived limits are just that, perceived by our mind. Over and over throughout the practice one encounters these limits and then transgresses them through increased self- and body-awareness. The “I can never do this” turns into “Wow, I can do this” over and over again. – My goal as a teacher is to facilitate this process of empowerment. I aim not only to show the students what is possible but also to support them on their own journey. The change that initially happens on the mat will permeate daily life and lead to greater self-confidence, self-love and self-acceptance.
